Danny Critchley

Business Engagement Executive, Wakefield BID

Danny serves as the Business Engagement Executive for the Wakefield Business Improvement District (BID). He is passionate about the Ask for Angela scheme and has been involved with the initiative since 2019. He began as a COVID marshal for the local authority before becoming a community ambassador team leader.

Since joining Wakefield BID in 2023, Danny has focused on promoting and encouraging local businesses to implement the Ask for Angela scheme in their establishments. If any venues do not have the Ask for Angela program in place, Danny is proactive, providing them with posters and a training pack.

In March 2025, Wakefield BID officially launched "Safer Wakefield," a new business crime reduction partnership aimed at supporting city centre businesses, reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, and ensuring that Wakefield remains one of the safest districts in West Yorkshire.

The launch also highlighted the support businesses will receive through training sessions that include WalkSafe, Ask for Angela, and Active Bystander training—each designed to help staff feel more confident in handling difficult situations.

Danny aims to make every business in Wakefield aware of the Ask for Angela scheme, encouraging them to use it and potentially become ambassadors themselves, ultimately making Wakefield a safer destination for everyone.
