Ask for Angela is built on a simple idea: making it easier for people to seek support if they need it for any reason. We know the scheme works best when it is understood, championed and properly embedded.

If you would like to support Ask for Angela, there are several ways to get involved. You might want to use your voice and platform to raise awareness, help ensure the scheme is working well wherever it is advertised, or offer your time and expertise in other ways that further the aims of the scheme.

Help us support #SaferSocialising

Volunteer

We currently have two named volunteer roles: Ask for Angela Ambassador and Ask for Angela Angel. We are also very happy to hear from people who would like to support the scheme in other ways.

How you can get involved

An Ask for Angela Ambassador helps champion the scheme publicly.

Ambassadors lend their names, profiles and platforms to raise awareness of Ask for Angela and support its wider aims. This might include talking about the scheme in relevant spaces, sharing information with audiences and networks, or helping more people understand why Ask for Angela matters.

Ask for Angela Ambassador

This role may suit people who:

  • have an established profile, network or platform

  • are passionate about safer socialising and public awareness

  • want to use their influence to help more people understand and support the scheme

  • are comfortable championing Ask for Angela in a positive and responsible way

We welcome ambassadors who are aligned with our values and want to help promote safer socialising in a credible, supportive and constructive way.

Ask for Angela Angel

An Ask for Angela Angel helps ensure the scheme works wherever it is advertised.

Angels play a practical role in supporting the integrity of Ask for Angela by helping us identify where the scheme is being promoted and whether it appears to be fully embedded in a supportive way. We provide guidance on how to do this, which is shared with applicants.

This role is ideal for people who want to make a practical contribution and help ensure the scheme's quality and credibility.

This role may suit people who:

  • are observant and thoughtful

  • care about making sure the scheme is used properly

  • are happy following guidance and feeding back clearly

  • want to play a practical part in supporting safer spaces

Other ways to support us

We are also keen to hear from people who would like to give their time, skills or expertise in other ways to further the aims of the scheme.

This could include support with:

  • communications and awareness raising

  • partnerships and introductions

  • events and outreach

  • training, education or facilitation

  • hospitality, safeguarding or operational expertise

  • design, digital or content support

  • research, insight or evaluation

If you believe you could help in another way, we would love to hear from you.

Who we would like to hear from

We welcome interest from people who care about safer socialising and want to make a positive contribution.

You may be involved in hospitality, education, student welfare, safeguarding, community work, local partnerships, campaigning, communications, or simply someone who strongly supports the aims of Ask for Angela.

What matters most is that you share our values and want to help in a constructive, credible and thoughtful way.

What happens next

If you apply, we will review your interest and get back to you if there is a suitable opportunity. Where relevant, we may share guidance, discuss the most appropriate role, or explore other ways you can support the scheme.

We may not be able to take everyone on immediately, but we are always grateful to hear from people who want to help further the aims of Ask for Angela.
