Setting Up

Introducing Ask for Angela within your venue or organisation is an important step towards creating safer, more supportive environments for staff, customers and visitors. Successful implementation goes beyond displaying posters or resources; it starts with ensuring your team understands the purpose of the scheme, how it works and how to respond appropriately and confidently when someone asks for help.

Creating a culture where people feel safe asking for help starts with making sure teams understand the signs of vulnerability, recognise when someone may need support and know how to respond calmly, safely and discreetly.

Why Preparation Matters

For Ask for Angela to be effective, staff should feel confident and supported in how they respond to situations involving vulnerability and/or any safety concerns. Clear communication, visible resources and consistent training all play an important role in helping the scheme work effectively within your environment.

Getting Started

As a minimum, we strongly recommend that all team members complete our free Ask for Angela workbooks as part of your initial rollout. These resources are designed to introduce the scheme, build awareness around vulnerability and provide practical guidance on recognising when someone may need support and how to respond appropriately. We have ensured that they are practical and easy to implement across a wide range of environments, helping organisations establish the scheme effectively.

Alongside staff learning, we also recommend ensuring your Ask for Angela materials are clearly visible within your venue or organisation so that customers, visitors and staff know support is available if needed.

Developing Staff Confidence Through Training

To further strengthen knowledge, confidence and practical application, we recommend progressing to our wider training programmes. Our training options include:

  • Self-led online Ask for Angela training

  • Vulnerability awareness training

  • Train the Trainer programmes

These programmes are designed to help teams build confidence in recognising vulnerability, responding appropriately and supporting safer spaces within their organisation. Our training is suitable for venues, hospitality settings, retail environments, events, transport and wider public-facing organisations.

Our training is also accredited by the BIIAB, meaning the courses have been independently assessed and meet nationally recognised standards.

Resources and Ongoing Support

We offer a range of downloadable and printed resources, including posters, window stickers, staff guidance materials and bespoke branded resources tailored to your organisation.

Our team can also provide free guidance around implementation, communication and best practice to help ensure your approach works effectively for both staff and customers.
