Russell Hawkins is the Operations Manager for PaddingtonNow, where he leads initiatives to enhance safety and wellbeing across the district. In his role, he oversees a dedicated community safety team, manages the area’s Pubwatch scheme, and works in close partnership with the police and Westminster City Council to support licensed premises and promote safer public spaces.
A passionate advocate for community safety, Russell regularly delivers events focused on personal safety and tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG). He is also proud to serve as the Women’s Champion for the Lord Mayor’s Women’s Night Safety Charter, championing initiatives that make the night-time economy safer and more inclusive.
Before joining PaddingtonNow, Russell served for 19 years as a police officer with Thames Valley Police, bringing extensive frontline experience to his current work.
PaddingtonNow was awarded a National BID Gold Award in 2026 in the Security and Safety Drive category, recognising the impact of its campaigns and collaborative approach to community safety.
As an Ask Angela Ambassador, Russell is committed to raising awareness of the scheme and supporting venues to create environments where everyone feels safe and supported.
